A Colorful Mashup of Highlights from the 2019 Quarter 1 Meeting

The Echo Group’s first quarterly meeting of 2019 shed light, and candy, on the company’s first quarter successes.

This past Friday brought together two cultural celebrations to help kick off The Echo Group’s 2019 first quarter meeting—Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby turned into Cinco de Derby at the Echo offices. The Echo team took full creative license with the combined theme by setting up festive food tables, decorations, and several pinatas to break open throughout the meeting.

After everyone had a full plate and the first pinata was broken, CEO Matt Caggiano started off the meeting with Q1 highlights of exceeding overall total revenue expectations while keeping expenses down and ending with a total EBITDA at more than 5% above budget. Of particular interest were departmental successes such as positive Customer Support feedback and performance, notable Development milestones, and in the Revenue Cycle Management department, the highest collections numbers ever achieved.

Many thanks to individual employees were shouted out along with the newly introduced concept of Employees of the Quarter. This honor went to Jayson Rines, Network Administrator, and Kali Zumpfe, Director of Business Relations. Both Jayson and Kali were overwhelmingly recognized for their dedication, knowledge, and enthusiasm for Echo and its customers.

Across all departments, the first quarter message was clear: Echo is moving from strength to strength with many exciting developments to welcome in the coming months.

Is Your EHR Safe from Ransomware?

$
0
0

Ransomware attacks are on the rise. Did you choose an EHR vendor to protect your agency’s data?

ransomware

The attack starts, well before anyone realizes it. An open of an intriguing email, a click on a promising attachment or link. Almost instantly, the computer is infected, files are encrypted, and the hackers are in. You were sure it would never happen to your agency—your employees have been instructed on best practices when it comes to suspicious emails.

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee. Even organizations with the best intentions and seemingly best-laid plans are not immune to sophisticated and crippling ransomware attacks that are gripping organizations of all types and sizes. The anger, then fear, of realizing your agency has been infiltrated by a clever digital diversion is terrifying and daunting.

Solutions for ransomware attacks on healthcare-related organizations have proven to be quite tricky as most technology systems are locked down by their electronic health record (EHR) vendors. This leads to an important question: when choosing your organization’s EHR provider, did you choose one who offers ransomware attack solutions?

Echo has identified the critical need for ransomware attack solutions and the importance of offering these solutions as part of its core services. Our response team is quick and actionable and is by your side throughout the data recovery process. As we move through the recovery, we set your organization up with an uncompromised database to allow your employees to put away the paper and pens they were temporarily forced to use and get back to working online. Our recovery solutions include offering professional services to rebuild your network, scanning for exposure, and adding Sophos™ to protect against future attacks, among other proprietary security measures.

We hope that you never need our ransomware attack services, but if you do, know that Echo views each customer as a true partner and will use our expertise to protect your agency and its clients.

In Memoriam: DeAnn Murphy

DeAnn MurphyIt is with a heavy hearts that we share the passing of our friend and colleague, DeAnn Murphy. She passed away on February 15th after a brief illness.

As the Product Manager for Echo’s ShareCare product that is based in California, DeAnn was well known for her intelligence, respect, and devotion to her job and those she worked with. Following is a Memoriam of DeAnn, written by her fellow Echo colleague, David Allen:

I have known DeAnn for approximately the 9 years she has been with the company. Although we worked three thousand miles apart, in different time zones, we worked very closely together as she progressed through her Support, QA, conversion, implementation, and product management roles. She was an extremely hard worker who was quick to pick up new skills and willing to go the extra mile for both her co-workers and our customers. I often commented to her and others that she had “a memory like a steel trap.” I also have fond memories of conversations we had at times after she had gone home from a full day’s work to catch up on matters needing attention.

DeAnn was well-liked by our California customers who appreciated her intelligence and commitment to meeting their needs. She had an active role with them and truly exemplifies our commitment to our partnership with those we support. I have already received many thoughtful comments from different customers who appreciated their relationships with her and were very moved by our sudden loss.

I cherish the memories of picking DeAnn up from the airport when she made a trip west, the attendance together at a conference in Southern California, or meeting on-site with customers the rare times we were able to do so. Her voice on the phone was more the norm on an extended basis. I will miss that so much… —David Allen

Even at work, DeAnn’s devotion to her family was very evident as she was always sharing their accomplishments and proud moments. Our greatest condolences are with her husband Tom and her children, Joe and Reagan.

DeAnn’s obituary can be found here. Please add your thoughts or memories in the comments below to share with her colleagues and family.

covid-19 response

Times of uncertainty brings the most important things into focus. At Echo, as we see the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the U.S., our priority is the well-being of our community–each of our employees, our customers, their staff, and clients. This note is to share a few things that we are doing, so far, in order to continue daily operations to support everyone.

In the Echo offices, the safety and health of our employees is top of mind. Therefore, Echo is doing its best to maintain a safe and healthy work environment:

  1. We have increased the availability of cleaning supplies and sanitary actions within our offices.
  2. We have instated a travel advisory requiring staff who are returning from any trips to self-quarantine for 14 days.
  3. Effective immediately all staff have the option of remote work environments. All staff have the same connectivity, network, and phone as they do in the office.

For our customers, we want to offer meaningful services in these uncertain times. We are aware of the increase in remote staff that many of you are experiencing as you look to limit in-person interactions as a precaution against COVID-19. In response, Echo has rolled out virtual support options to help you protect your staff and clients. If you are a customer of Echo, please contact your account manager for details on these.

While we can’t know what will happen in the coming days and weeks, I do know that Echo will do everything we can to be true partners for you and your community. Take care out there.
